Hewlett Packard (HP) notebooks and personal towers use batteries. Low battery performance can significantly diminish a computer’s power levels. Dim images on a monitor screen or intermittent power surges might be an indication that the equipment is not functioning properly.

Notebooks and AC Power Adaptors

After a consumer purchases a new Hewlett Packard Pavillion notebook or laptop they will need to use the AC adaptor and the battery simultaneously so they can charge the battery. To do this, the consumer should insert the battery into the bottom of the notebook and leave it inserted overnight while the AC adaptor is plugged into an electrical outlet.

The AC power adaptor and the battery should only be powered up to the notebook simultaneously when the battery is being charged. If the battery and the power adaptor are plugged into the notebook at the same time for long periods it could shorten the life of the battery.
